James Thompson was born in 1823 in Riston Yorkshire and was the Fifth child of George Thompson and Elizabeth Duke
King William 4th toke the throne on the 26th June 1830 on the Death of his father King George 4th
Queen victoria takes the throne on the 20th June 1837 on the death of her uncle King William 4th.

During the December quarter 1853 James Marries Ellen Harper in the registration district of Skirlaugh
The first of Five chilren was George and he was born in the Mar quarter of 1854 in Riston Yorkshire
The second child was John and he was born in the June quarter of 1855 in Leven Yorkshire
The third child was Charles who was born on the 3rd December 1856 in Leven Yorkshire
The fourth child was William and he was born in the March quarter in Leven Yorkshire
The Fifth and last child was Joseph and he was born in the March quarter of 1861 in Sigglesthorpe Yorkshire
On the 1861 census the family was living on hull Road Sigglesthorpe
On the 1871 Census the family is living in Catwick Yorkshire, and he is aged 48 and working as a farm Servant.
In the December 1878 James is widowed on the death of Ellen.
On the 1881 Census James ane 4 children was in the Skirlaugh Workhouse, he was aged 57 and working as a Agrilultural Labourer
James dies in the September Quarter of 1890
